As girls who are interested in STEM, we find it concerning that less girls nowadays are interested in STEM, such as not taking STEM classes in school nor participating in STEM activities. In high school, boys makeup most of AP science and math courses than girls, outnumbering them by 10,000. Girls also pass these AP exams less than boys, especially the minorities. We also figured that society’s view on women has an impact for this. Some girls were told they cannot become scientists, engineers, etc. because they are women. Because of this, more girls are losing interest for STEM. This is why women in the STEM workforce make up only 29% of it.
